Narain Karthikeyan Drives His XKR Ahead Of The First Indian GP

India's pioneer Formula 1 Driver, Narain Karthikeyan raced in the first ever Indian Formula 1 Grand Prix at the Buddh International Circuit in New Delhi on 30th October.

Narain Karthikeyan had chosen to drive a Jaguar XKR, ahead of his race at the Indian Grand Prix. An avid fan of Jaguar cars and its rich racing heritage, Narain said:
"I see Jaguar as having a great Motorsport heritage and its historical success at Le Mans has helped to keep its reputation as one of the best sports car manufacturers. The Jaguar XKR is a great high performance sporting GT and is the ideal car for me to drive ahead of my race at the Indian Grand Prix".

Rohit Suri, Head of Premier Car Division, Jaguar Land Rover India said:
"It is great to have Narain driving the latest Jaguar XKR in the days leading up to his race in the first Indian Formula 1. I am confident that Narain will enjoy driving the XKR, which has a unique blend of contemporary sporting luxury and exhilarating performance".

The completely new Ian Callum designed XK was unveiled in 2005 Frankfurt Motor Show. Ian claims that the inspiration for the shape of the new XK came from his admiration for British actress Kate Winslet's curves.The XKR has an unlimited top speed of 174 mph, the standard XK has an unlimited top speed of 158 mph. The faster XKR-S model was added in 2012. The XKR-S gained an additional 40 horsepower over the XKR which brought the 0-60 mph time down to only 4.4 seconds and the top speed up to 300 km/h. A convertible version of the XKR-S has also been released.
